Torn.

Watercolor/Marker

In this piece, instead of using traditional water color paint, I created the background by withdrawing the color from tissue paper using water. After drawing the figure onto the background, I glued the piece onto a large sheet of foam core and cut out the shapes in a rotating swirl design. Cutting through the foam was much more difficult than I had imagined it would be and because of that, my craftsmanship wasn't up to par. The name of the piece is derived from the manner in which the sections of the figure are torn away from the heart.
